Doctors are busy with flu vaccinations to try to abate the inevitable outbreak this year. During this period we must be extra vigilant regarding food safety and personal hygiene while working in all areas of food preparation. Germs love to travel and there are many ways in which they can contaminate food products. The flu virus can be transferred to food when personal hygiene standards are not adhered to correctly.
You must advise your supervisor if you are feeling unwell.
They will inform you that you must not work when you are suffering from illnesses which are likely to be transmitted through food. These include Flu, gastroenteritis (often called ‘gastro’), hepatitis A and hepatitis E.
